We are visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. What is the dress code? Do we need to take off our shoes, and is there a place to leave them?

Cover shoulders and knees, and wear white or light colours if you can. Shoes come off before entering - there is a shoe counter near the entrance (small fee). Also remove hats and never pose with your back to a Buddha statue for photos.

Bring socks - the ground gets very hot in the afternoon!

A sarong or scarf works great; you can also buy one cheaply outside the temple.
