Community Guidelines

Lanka Mate works because people share honest, practical help. These guidelines keep it that way.

  1. Be kind and respectful. No harassment, discrimination, threats or abuse.
  2. Give practical and honest answers. Answer the question that was asked.
  3. Share first-hand experience where possible — and say when you visited.
  4. Make it clear when information may be outdated or uncertain. Don't present guesses as facts.
  5. Do not spam, harass or repeatedly advertise.
  6. Respect privacy. Never publish another person's personal information.
  7. Disclose business interests when recommending your own service, or one you are paid by.
  8. Do not use the community for illegal, dangerous or harmful activity, or post advice that could put people at risk.
  9. Report content that breaks the rules rather than escalating arguments.

Moderation

Lanka Mate moderators may edit, hide or remove content and restrict accounts when necessary to protect the community. If your content is hidden or your account is restricted, you will get a notification.

Safety

Community answers are user-generated and may be incomplete, outdated or inaccurate. Please verify important details yourself. Lanka Mate is not an emergency-response service — if you are in immediate danger or need urgent medical help, call 119 (police), 1990 (ambulance) or the Tourist Police on 1912.
